Remote Tax Manager – M&A / Transaction Advisory

Salary: Up to $170K + Bonus

Location: Fully Remote (Must be based in NY, NJ, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, Georgia, or Texas)

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager with M&A / Transaction Advisory experience to support corporate and private equity clients through complex buy-side and sell-side transactions.

This is a highly visible, client-facing role offering the opportunity to work directly with leadership and make a meaningful impact.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This is a top-tier public accounting firm with a strong national presence and a reputation for developing high-performing professionals. As an independent firm (no private equity backing), leadership is focused on long-term growth, client success, and — most importantly — their people.

The culture is collaborative, accessible, and built around a people-first philosophy, where your contributions are recognized and your career progression is intentional.

Even within a fast-paced M&A environment, the firm places a strong emphasis on work-life balance, ensuring sustainability alongside career growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence engagements from planning through delivery
  • Provide strategic insight on transaction structuring and tax modeling
  • Analyze Subchapter C and Subchapter K tax matters related to M&A activity
  • Review tax provisions in legal and merger agreements
  • Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership and clients
  • Serve as the primary client contact across multiple engagements
  • Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex technical matters
  • Mentor and develop junior staff, reviewing work and providing feedback
  • Ensure quality and compliance across all engagements

Qualifications

  • CPA or JD required
  • 4–5+ years of public accounting experience, with exposure to M&A, transaction tax, or due diligence
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. corporate and partnership taxation
  • Experience working with private equity-backed clients is a plus
  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience leading tax due diligence engagements
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Ability to translate complex tax concepts into practical business advice
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset

What You’ll Get

  • Fully remote flexibility within target states
  • Competitive base salary up to $170K + bonus
  • A firm that genuinely values work-life balance
  • Clear and realistic path for advancement
  • Exposure to high-level M&A transactions and private equity clients
  • A collaborative, growth-oriented culture with accessible leadership
